VOTE NOW

Adrian Evarkiou-Kaku ‘13 has made the semi-finals in an important violin competition. It is sort of the equivalent of “American Idol” for the violin! If he wins, he gets to solo with the Orchestra Nova here in San Diego. The results will be based on judges and public votes. He needs everyone’s help! Click here  to vote and to view Adrian’s video, click here to go to Country Day’s YouTube page, click here to view. Please submit your vote by this Saturday, January 30.

OREGON SHAKESPEARE FESTIVAL

Join Upper School English teacher Dr. Gideon Rappaport, and Middle School English/Drama teacher Ms. Lauren Kaushansky on a family trip to the Oregon Shakespeare Festival in Ashland, Oregon, this June for an exciting and unforgettable adventure organized especially for our LJCDS community:

The SHAKESPEARE INTENSIVE (or the SHAKESPEARE INTENSIVE PLUS)

We will learn about, see, and discuss brand new, professional productions of four of Shakespeare's finest works: Hamlet, The Merchant of Venice, Twelfth Night and Henry IV, Part I, while enjoying some of the Pacific Northwest's most glorious scenery and partaking in behind-the-scenes talks and backstage tours.

Participants will have the opportunity to see additional (non-Shakespeare) plays, including Tennessee Williams' Cat on a Hot Tin Roof, Jane Austen's Pride and Prejudice, and a charming, romantic Musical, She Loves Me

Participation is limited to 25 people, and we will be accepting sign-ups on a first come, first served basis. Click here for more information. This exciting event for Summer 2010 is open to Middle School and Upper School families.

SINGING IN SPAIN SPAIN

Choir Director, Jennifer Boyum along with Director, Visual & Performing Arts, Barbara Weinstein and Middle School Strings teacher put together and pulled off a trip of a lifetime for our Madrigal group and our Women's Ensemble  in Spain at the British Council School.

Ms. Weinstein gushed, "Without a doubt the most beautiful and memorable concert was at the Cathedral of St Tomas in Avila." It wasn't all work for the students, they did take some time to visit the sites with their advisors.
