Applying to the Middle School (Grades 5–8)

As the bridge between the Lower and Upper Schools, the Middle School is where students experience important transitions. By choosing La Jolla Country Day School (LJCDS), you have found a place that will challenge your child within a nurturing environment to develop independence of thought, habit and mind.

Considerations for Admission

  • Strong character
  • Academic readiness or qualifications to successfully participate in and meet the academic standards of the school's ambitious college preparatory program
  • Exceptional talent in the arts and/or athletics
  • Maturity
  • Affiliation with the school—special consideration for available space is given to qualified children of faculty/staff/administration, siblings of current students, and children of alumni who fit within the range of students best served by LJCDS
  • Diversity and gender balance
  • Appropriateness of match between family and the school including a parental commitment to establish a supportive partnership with the LJCDS community
