Upper School Application Process
The priority application deadline is February 1, 2020 for the 2020-2021 school year.
For families exploring the admission process for students applying to grades 5 – 12 for the fall of 2020, we would be delighted to schedule an exploratory conversation with a parent or guardian to discuss the availability of positions in select grade levels.
We have a pre-screening process for potential grade – 5 – 12 applicants who are interested in applying after April 8, 2020.
Please provide the previous two years of unofficial transcripts for the potential applicant by emailing email@example.com (parent/guardian copies are acceptable)
Please provide ISEE test results for applicants to grades 5 – 12 by sending test results to firstname.lastname@example.org If your son or daughter has not taken the ISEE, it is a required part of the admission process.
The LJCDS ISEE school code is 051333.
For a practice test click here (entering Grades 5 & 6) or here (entering Grades 7 & 8).
Upon our review of these items, we will advise you regarding engagement of the comprehensive admission process.
Considerations for Admission
Academic readiness or qualifications to successfully participate in and meet the academic standards of the school's ambitious college preparatory program
Exceptional talent in the arts and/or athletics
Affiliation with the school - special consideration for available space is given to qualified children of faculty/staff/administration, siblings of current students, and children of alumni who fit within the range of students best served by LJCDS
Diversity and gender balance
Appropriateness of match between family and the school – including a parental commitment to establish a supportive partnership with the LJCDS community
Pre-Screen Policy (Grades 10 and 11)
LJCDS is sometimes able to accept new students into Grades 10 & 11. In order to guarantee an applicant is qualified to handle the demands of our academic program, we require a process known as a "pre-screen." A pre-screen involves submitting the following forms:
Any other pertinent information requested by the Office of Admission
Optional Visit Day
If you have already completed an inquiry but would like your child to attend an optional visit day, please contact Emilyn Edquilang at email@example.com or Jessica Biglin at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Please note that the “optional” visit day is an opportunity for students looking at Grades 1–11 who are uncertain if they want to engage in the official admission process to visit our campus.
All applicants to Grades 1–11 will be required to participate in an official visit day which will be available during January and February 2019. The optional visit day is not in lieu of the official visit day.
