Congratulations to the 118 members of the Class of 2016 who celebrated the end of their La Jolla Country Day School career on Friday, May 27, 2016. The Class of 2016 was one to remember as they embraced each other as extended family and friends filled the “west side” of campus with their joy and smiles.
Upper School Director Greg Martin shared, “I can say, with all honesty, I’ve never known a happier, more joyful class in my 20 plus years in education. Thanks to your limitless smiles, you’ve made this a wonderful place for all of us to work and for your fellow students to learn.”
The school presented three members of the class awards during commencement. Rebecca Schleimer was the recipient of the Trustees' Award, which recognizes the graduate with the highest cumulative grade point average. Brandon Camp was presented the Head of School Award for earning the second highest cumulative grade point average. Sophie Ausmus and Brandon Camp earned the Faculty Prize, which was awarded to a young man and a young woman of the senior class, who through effort and character, scholarship, arts and athletics, have best demonstrated the ideas and spirit of La Jolla Country Day School.
Following the presentation of diplomas, each member of the Class of 2016 followed the longtime tradition of ringing the historical bell. We wish the Class of 2016 all the best in the next chapter of their lives! Congratulations to our alumni who are inspiring greatness for a better world.
