Camp Habitat

Fifth Grade students will be working with Habitat for Humanity on this year’s service-learning project. The playhouse project, informally known as “Camp Habitat” will take place on February 5-6, 2019. The playhouses will be going to Head Start programs and we have elected to fundraise to cover the cost of the materials so that we can provide them to Head Start Programs and low-income military family, which we’re hoping to meet by the end of the school year in June. Families are welcome to donate online here (tax-deductible) and Grade 5 students will work together to fundraise for this very important and exciting effort. We also are in need of parent volunteers to make this project happen. Parents need not be 5th grade families to volunteer for this project… we will accept ANY ADULT FAMILY MEMBER! Parents can volunteer to help out by filling out this form to be either a parent volunteer or a “build captain” on either day (2/5/19 or 2/6/19… OR BOTH!) To be a build captain (on either or both days!) you must attend a training and can register for one by clicking here. Currently all of them say “Join waitlist” so it’s important that people sign up and once we have at least two people for a certain time, then we will open it up for an actual training. If you went through a build captain training last year… no need to go through the training again. Questions? Concerns? Email Ms. Zeavin at hzeavin@ljcds.org!
