Returning Home

Alumni traveled in from throughout California, New York, Georgia and Ohio.

During a campus tour, the class of 1997 gathered in English faculty member Ms. Bradley’s classroom, bringing back the good old days!

Former faculty members also returned to campus, including Dara Hensley, Will Erickson, Billy Simms, Bill Cahoone, Alice Thornton Schilling, Ferne McCuen and Lynne Boyd Hansen.

The class of 1967 celebrated their 50th reunion with a luncheon hosted by two of their classmates at the La Jolla Beach and Tennis Club before the evening reception on campus. Members of the class also rang the historic bell in the Upper School quad and gave a class gift to the Country Day Fund, the school’s annual fund. Six of the alumni who reunited attended the Balmer School—the school founded by Louise Balmer before it was rechartered as the current LJCDS. In fact, they had Ms. Balmer as their first grade reading teacher.

Current visual arts teacher Bruce Fayman ’77 returned as both a faculty member and an alumnus celebrating his 40th reunion.

Current Middle School math teacher Amy Dinger Rohrbach ’97 also celebrated a decade reunion—her 20th.

Alumni, their parents, children and grandchildren joined together for a picnic on the softball field.
