Swim 24Challenge

By Jennifer Fogarty, assistant director of marketing and communications
The LJCDS Men’s Water Polo Team participated in Swim 24Challenge on August 26–27, a 24-hour team relay event for swimmers of all abilities to raise money for drowning prevention. This is the fourth year that the team has helped our community by participating in the fundraising event that takes place at the UC San Diego Canyonview Aquatic Complex. Over 200 swimmers raised over $100K. The LJCDS team raised $1575 so far.

Money raised benefits the Drowning Prevention Foundation of San Diego (DPFoSD), also known as  the San Diego Junior Lifeguard Foundation's Waterproofing America Initiative. The program includes aquatic education lectures, swim lessons, an aquatic experience at the ocean or a local pool, and the opportunity to enroll in the DPFoSD program if the San Diego youth passes the swim test.

Great job to the whole team and congratulations to Daniel Hotson ’20 who came in second place in overall number of laps!
