Women's varsity basketball coach earns coaches award.

Congratulations to women’s varsity basketball coach Terri Bamford who earned the San Diego High School Sports Association Head Coaches Award.

The prestigious award honors deserving coaches, administrators, community members and corporate sponsors for their efforts in helping further the education of our young men and women through athletics.

As head coach at LJCDS for 21 years, Coach Bamfords’ unwavering commitment to her student-athletes is unmatched.

“She will do anything she can to help us,” shares point guard Te-Hina O. Paopao ’20. “She will wake up before the sun rises to workout players who desire to get better and will stay late into the night for players who want to put more shots up. Coach Bamford is by far the hardest working coach.”

Former Stanford and WNBA player Candice Wiggins ’04 considers Coach Bamford a best friend and a second mom. “She instilled in me a lifetime of wisdom from the many life lessons she taught on and off the court,” says Wiggins. “She showed how important the personal choices you make on an individual and daily basis are. No matter what adversity you may be going through, the power ultimately belongs to you; the way you accept this is displayed through your attitude and effort.”

Bamford’s meaningful relationships with her players transcend into greatness on the court: 492 wins, 153 losses, 15 league championships, 13 CIF San Diego Section championships, 12 Southern California regional championships, eight state championship finals and four state championships.

The women’s varsity basketball team holds a current 20-11 record for the 2018-2019 season. They move on to round two of the state basketball championships as of publishing date.
