Alumni Return, Career Day

By Katie Sigeti ’06, philanthropy manager, alumni programs
Alumni share their experiences and wisdom with Upper Schoolers.

Career Day has been a time-honored LJCDS tradition since 1984. For 37 years, Upper Schoolers have had the opportunity to hear from Torreys who came before them and learn about their career paths.

On April 19, the school welcomed back six alumni from a variety of professions to speak with Upper School students.

After each alum spoke about their experiences and backgrounds, seniors attended breakout sessions to connect further, ask questions and get advice from the alumni speakers in the fields they are interested in pursuing.

This year’s esteemed Career Day speakers were Dan Greene ’94, criminal defense attorney; Grant Gurtin ’09, entrepreneur, investor and co-host of the podcast Beta Business; Julie Munoz Lowe ’91, director of marketing at Xbox; Harry Nam ’84, founder and managing partner of Htx Holdings, LLC; Lauren Guttman Ravitz ’96, luxury real estate agent at Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices; and Sarah Wulfeck ’97, an Imagineer at The Walt Disney Company.

While this year’s Career Day looked a little different as a virtual event, it still had the same heart—connecting the Torreys of yesterday with those of today in the spirit of mentorship and guidance.
