Torrey Football Report - Week 3 vs Classical Academy

Torreys took home their second straight victory in a 42-7 victory over visiting Classical Academy. After pulling out to a 35-0 lead at the half, the Torreys were able to cruise in the second half to move our record to 2-1 on the season. Again the boys in blue played well in all three phases of the game, giving the Caimans very little room to move the ball while also striking quick offensively. Braxton Burmeister ’17 again led the way on the offense throwing for 212 yards (all in the first half) and 3 TDs while also adding 82 rushing yards and 2 TDs. David Brewster ’17 added 60 yards on the ground, including a 48 yard TD, and Khalid Jackson ’19 also ran for 60 yards as the Torrey O-Line led our backs to over 200 rushing yards for the first time this season. David Wylie ’17 caught 8 balls for 117 yards and 2 TDs (on his birthday!), going over the century mark for the second straight game. Brennan Goring also added a receiving TD on a tough 22 yards catch and run. The entire Sea of Blue defense flew all over the field, led by Ryan LaRiccia’s ’17 10 tackles. The real stars of the night however, were our local firefighters, police officers, and LJCDS service men and women whom honored at halftime in our special 9/11 tribute; it was truly a touching moment.
