Early Childhood E-Learning, Spring 2020

The Early Childhood Center (ECC) e-learning program values a strong relationship and partnership between parents and educators working together to support students’ social, emotional, cognitive and physical development. The program is developed to keep children socially engaged with their peers and sustain a sense of community in the ECC.

Play continues to be the core of learning and skill development. In uncertain times, maintaining routines to provide continuity of learning and predictability is important for our ages 3–4 students. Our distance learning schedule replicates regular meeting times and schedules to provide students with the comfort of the familiar. Students begin interactive learning in the morning and enjoy group times with their teachers along with scheduled times for play, lunch and rest. They conclude the day with independent choice activities.
Knowing we are unable to fully replicate our program, we look to provide experiences that inspire joy and wonder and spark curiosity and creativity. We find activities that will support the development of the whole child while they are at home during this social distancing time.

LJCDS has exceeded our expectations in every aspect. The administrators, teachers and staff are thoughtful, dedicated and kind, and there is no doubt that they deeply care about supporting students in the ways each individual uniquely needs… Beyond a stellar education, students gain an understanding and appreciation for their own agency to stretch to their potential and make the world around them a better place."
