Age 3–Kindergarten

Welcome to Summer at Country Day! We are excited to embrace new and returning families this summer. Our youngest Torreys can explore colors, discover nature, hunt for treasure and be well-prepared when they start kindergarten this fall. Sessions run from June 12–July 28.

The age 3–kindergarten programs are only available for students enrolled at LJCDS in the fall. These programs are not open to the public.

Early Childhood Center Summer of Wonder

The Summer of Wonder in the Early Childhood Center has options for Tiny Torreys (3-year-olds) and junior kindergarteners (4-year-olds). There are two- and three-week options from 8:30–11:30 a.m. A mid-morning snack is provided. Children must be toilet trained.

    Color Galaxy provides experiences and activities for children to express their thoughts and ideas by exploring different media and materials in many colors. Children must be toilet trained.

Kindergarten

Kindergarten programs are one- and two-week sessions with morning (8:30–11:30 a.m.) and afternoon (12:30–3:30 p.m.) options.

A box lunch is offered during a supervised lunch break from 11:30 a.m.–12:30 p.m. for those who are attending both morning and afternoon sessions. Students can bring their own lunch (no nuts, please).

  • Mad Science: Junior Explorers (Kindergarten)

    This program is available to students enrolled at LJCDS in fall 2023 only.

    Budding naturalists explore the world around them as they step into the garden to learn about soil, seeds and sprouts. They’ll examine fruits, vegetables, plants and leaves and learn about the interesting variety of creatures that help gardens grow and discover how animals interact with the environment to help them thrive. Junior explorers make art with the sun, fly like a bee, and enjoy the cool breeze as they dig into the soil and grow with Mad Science.

  • Young Engineers: Treasure Hunters Camp (Kindergarten)

    This program is available to students enrolled at LJCDS in fall 2023 only.

    X marks the spot for this adventure. Explore the fun and games to find what lies at the end of the treasure hunt. Hint: treasure hunters may need to be an expert at rock, paper, scissors or hitting a bullseye. They may even come across Hansel and Gretel.

Ready, Set, Go, Kindergarten

Morning

  • Session 1: Endangered Animals

    This program is available to students enrolled at LJCDS in fall 2023 only.

    Two weeks of animal fun. A different animal is explored each day through art projects, literature, cooking and the creation of an animal book. Physical education is provided daily, as well as outside play.

  • Session 1: Things with Wings 

    This program is available to students enrolled at LJCDS in fall 2023 only.

    Get ready for kindergarten. Through rich literature, hands-on art projects, songs, and games, students explore a variety of things with wings—from bugs to birds to airplanes. Each day is a new surprise! This two-week thematic program, which includes PE, snacks and recess, allows students to meet new friends and become accustomed to kindergarten routines at LJCDS.

  • Session 2: Specialty Classes

    This program is available to students enrolled at LJCDS in fall 2023 only.

    This one-week program introduces students to LJCDS specialty classes that are typically offered during the regular school day and in after-school programs. Students will spend approximately 45 minutes in each session.

    This program is available to students enrolled at LJCDS in fall 2023 only.

    ROOOOOAR! Get ready for two weeks filled with all things prehistoric. Campers learn about the creatures who once roamed the earth including what they looked like and what their surroundings may have been. Students participate in art, math and literacy activities that reinforce various kindergarten-readiness skills.

Camp Torreys: Kindergarten

  • Camp Torreys: Kindergarten (Sessions 1–3)

    This program is available to students enrolled at LJCDS in fall 2023 only.

    Come play with friends and enjoy afternoons full of summer fun. Camp Torreys offers a wide variety of indoor and outdoor activities, including group games, campus nature walks, crafts and much more during each one- or two-week session. Pack a swimsuit, towel and sunscreen for water fun on inflatable slides on Fridays.
