General Information

Welcome to La Jolla Country Day School’s summer programs! We are excited that you are spending some (or all!) of your summer with us. If you’re returning from last year, welcome back and thank you for choosing us again!

From theater to innovation and tech, to art and rock climbing, there are options for every age. Imagine going behind-the-scenes of the San Diego Zoo, kayaking in La Jolla Cove, or indoor skydiving with your friends. These are just a few experiences awaiting you at La Jolla Country Day School this summer.

If you have any questions, please contact us at summerprograms@ljcds.org.

Daily Schedule

Take a morning or afternoon class or stay for a full day of fun! Most classes are one week long. The few multiweek courses in our program are noted in the dates section below the course description.

Morning classes run from 8–11 a.m. Drop-off for these classes begins at 7:30 a.m. Afternoon classes run from 12–3 p.m. If your child is staying with us for the morning and the afternoon, they will be able to enjoy a supervised group lunch with their new friends.

Lunch (11 a.m–12 p.m.):
Students enrolled for full days of fun will have a lunch break from 11 a.m.–12 p.m. A catered lunch from SAGE Dining Services® is offered for all Grades 1–12 students participating in our summer programs at no additional charge. Gluten-free options are available. Pre-K students and kindergarteners are asked to bring lunch for early childhood programs.

Students may also bring their own lunches. Please clearly mark names on lunch containers. If students need to bring a sack lunch for a field trip program, please pack it in a disposable container.

Extended Day

“Ultimate Camp Experience”:
Need to stay later than 3 p.m.? No problem! Students can stay as late as 5:30 p.m.

The afternoon extended day is open to kindergarteners–Grade 8 students attending an afternoon summer camp session. This time will be filled with additional camp activities such as crafts, games and playtime. This Extended Day experience is a flat rate $12-per-hour fee for drop-ins. Families using this service will simply be billed at the end of the week.

If you know ahead of time that you will need your child to stay for Extended Day, we encourage you to sign-up when you register for camp to receive our discounted rate of $100 for the whole week (12.5 hours of extended day).

Registration

Register at summerljcds.campbrainregistration.com. Students should enroll in classes for the grade level they will be entering in the fall. Classes are filled on a first come, first served basis. Space in a class is only reserved upon receipt of full payment. Classes will run only if there is adequate enrollment. If the minimum class size has not been met three weeks before class starts, the class may be canceled, and a full refund will be given to those enrolled. If a class is canceled, every effort will be made to find a suitable alternative if available. Please register early and spread the word about your favorite classes!

If you are enrolling an international student, they should be proficient in English (spoken language, and for some classes reading and writing) in order to fully benefit from the class. Students may be advised to withdraw or switch classes if they do not meet proficiency standards.

Early-Bird Discount:
To receive a 10 percent early-bird discount, please register for classes by Friday, April 12.

Fee and Refund Policy:
Fees vary depending on materials and staffing needs. Fee amounts are indicated below the course descriptions. Financial assistance is available to La Jolla Country Day School families for academic classes only. Financial assistance awards will be lowered by 10 percent during the early bird discount period. For questions about financial assistance, please contact Brian Murphy at bmurphy@ljcds.org.

A refund of 100 percent of the tuition for any class can be obtained prior to Monday, May 20, by emailing summerprograms@ljcds.org. A 75 percent refund will be made for refund requests made no later than two weeks prior to the start of a class. To ensure proper staffing and supplies, refunds after that point in time cannot be offered.
