Age 3–Kindergarten

Welcome to Summer at Country Day, La Jolla Country Day School’s summer programs. We are excited that you are spending some of your summer with us. 
Please note: Both the Early Childhood Center and the kindergarten summer programs are only available to students who are enrolled at LJCDS in fall 2022. This program is not open to the public. Review the options below and register online.

Early Childhood Center Summer of Wonder

Tiny Torreys and junior kindergarteners’ morning summer sessions are from 8:30–11:30 a.m., with a two-week and three-week option. A mid-morning snack is provided. Children must be potty-trained. 
The entrance to the Early Childhood Center is in the parking lot off Eastgate Mall closest to Genesee Ave. For drop-off, walk your child to the classroom to sign them in. Sign them out at the same location during pickup.

  • Nature Investigators (Tiny Torreys)

    This program is available to enrolled LJCDS students only.

    Nature Investigators provides three weeks of experiences and activities for students to learn about nature on campus and encourages campers to explore their backyards, local parks and beaches with their families. Students must be toilet trained.

  • Design Makers (Tiny Torreys)

    This program is available to enrolled LJCDS students only.

    Design Makers provides two weeks of experiences and activities to wonder about and explores patterns and shapes that are man-made and in nature. Patterns in music and rhyme are also examined. Students must be toilet trained.

Ready, Set, Go Kindergarten

The two-week sessions for children entering LJCDS kindergarten in the fall are from 8:30–11:30 a.m., and Camp Torreys: Kindergarten runs from 12:30–3:30 p.m.

A morning and afternoon snack is provided and a box lunch is offered to those who are attending both morning and afternoon sessions. Students can bring their own lunch (no nuts, please).
For morning sessions, drop-off and pickup take place in the parking lot off Eastgate Mall closest to Genesee Ave. A kindergarten staff member is in the parking lot to walk your child to their classroom in the morning and children are picked up in the kindergarten playground. 
For afternoon sessions and Extended Day, drop-off and pickup take place in the kindergarten playground. The gate for the Eastgate Mall lot closes at 12:30 p.m. Please park in the Genesee Avenue parking lot at 9490 Genesee Avenue, La Jolla, CA 92037, and walk to the kindergarten playground.

  • Camp Colorful (Kindergarten) Full

    This program is available to enrolled LJCDS students only.

    Get ready for kindergarten by learning about all things colorful! Every day we focus on a new color and read stories, do art projects and explore science experiments all about the color of the day. Think painting purple rain boots, red volcano explosions and books about the deep blue. Students in this course practice literacy and fine motor skills that they will use throughout their kindergarten year.

  • Endangered Animals (Kindergarten) Full

    This program is available to enrolled LJCDS students only.

    Two weeks of animal fun. A different animal is explored each day through art projects, literature, cooking and the creation of an animal book. Physical education is provided daily, as well as outside play.

  • Jurassic Camp (Kindergarten) Full

    This program is available to enrolled LJCDS students only.

    ROOOOOAR! Get ready for two weeks filled with all things prehistoric. Campers learn about the creatures who once roamed the earth, what they looked like and what their surroundings may have been. Students participate in art, math and literacy activities that reinforce various kindergarten readiness skills.

  • Things with Wings (Kindergarten) Full

    This program is available to enrolled LJCDS students only.

    Get ready for kindergarten. Through rich literature, hands-on art projects, songs and games, students will explore a variety of things with wings—from bugs to birds to airplanes. Each day is a new surprise! This two-week thematic program, which includes PE, snacks and recess, allows students to meet new friends and become accustomed to kindergarten routines at LJCDS.

  • Camp Torreys: Kindergarten Full

    This program is available to enrolled LJCDS students only.

    Come play with friends and enjoy an afternoon of summer fun. Camp Torreys offers a wide variety of indoor and outdoor activities, including group games, campus nature walks, crafts and much more during each two-week session. Pack a swimsuit, towel and sunscreen for water fun on Fridays.
