In a nail-biter finish, the LJCDS women’s tennis team pulled off a thrilling repeat, winning the CIF Division I championship on Saturday, November 1, at the Barnes Tennis Center.
The four-day tournament featured 16 teams, but it came down to the wire against La Jolla High School. The Torreys trailed 4-2 after the first rotation and 7-5 after the second. But they fought back, winning the final two matches to tie the Vikings 9-9 in sets. The title was decided on total games won—LJCDS edged La Jolla 74-64.
It’s the Torreys’ second straight Division I crown and their 10th CIF section title.
