A proud moment for the LJCDS community on baseball’s biggest stage.
While the Padres–Dodgers rivalry is real, Torrey loyalty was never in question. For the second year, blue and white pride took on a double meaning as the LJCDS community stood united in support of alumnus Tommy Edman ’13—and his father, John Edman, longtime LJCDS math teacher and baseball coach.
On Saturday, November 1, 2025, with the help of their versatile utility player Tommy Edman, the Los Angeles Dodgers sealed a dramatic victory and captured their second consecutive Major League Baseball championship. Tied in the ninth, the Dodgers edged out the Toronto Blue Jays 5–4 in the 11th inning of a thrilling Game 7 of the World Series.
With the win, the Dodgers became the first MLB team in 25 years to win back-to-back World Series titles and the first time in their franchise history.
Even while battling recurring ankle issues throughout the season, Tommy contributed when it mattered most, splitting time between second base, shortstop, and center field. According to DodgersNation.com, “Despite a down season at the plate, Edman tied his career high with 13 home runs (for the third time), hitting .225 with a .655 OPS.”
The Dodgers may have signed Tommy for his versatility and baseball instincts, but anyone who knows the Edman family knows where those qualities were first nurtured. Like his father, Coach John Edman, Tommy leads with humility, persistence, and a deep sense of responsibility to his team. A true Torrey through and through, he exemplifies the kind of quiet leadership, dependability, and character that define our community.
Tommy is a trusted teammate and a respected role model. We couldn’t be prouder to see those values on display at the highest level.
