Taiko Beats with La Jolla Taiko and LJCDS Students

Let’s go island hopping! Leaning into music and rhythms from islands all around the world, Shimajima Kara (From the Islands) will not only feature taiko from Japan, but also some fun surprises from the Caribbean, Polynesian Islands, Philippines, and other island influences.
This annual concert features La Jolla Taiko, with students from LJCDS in the Torrey Marching Band, the Upper School Band, and World Drumming classes.
Admission is free, and donations are appreciated to benefit La Jolla Taiko.
Taiko drumming is a unique blend of percussion, dance, and martial arts, characterized by power, speed, and synchronous movement, resulting in an awe-inspiring experience.
