Immunization Policy

Under a strict new law, SB277, families will no longer have the option of claiming exemption from California vaccination requirements based on personal beliefs.

As of July 1, 2016, all children must be fully immunized before enrolling in public or private school or daycare for the 2016-2017 academic year.

Please note that no student will be allowed to attend La Jolla Country Day School (or any other public, private or charter school in California) if they do not meet California vaccination requirements—this is the law.

Children with medical conditions, who meet specific criteria, may be exempt with a written statement from their doctor. Personal belief exemptions already on file for a child currently attending La Jolla Country Day School will remain valid until the child reaches the next immunization checkpoint at kindergarten or Grade 7.

School Policies that Relate to Employee Interactions with Pupils

Assembly Bill 500 (AB500), effective January 1, 2018, adds section 44050 of the California Education Code, which requires schools to provide the section on employee interactions with pupils in its code of conduct, to parents and guardians of enrolled students on the School’s website. The following document shares portions of the School policies, which are included in the School’s Employee Handbook, including language relating to interactions between pupils and employees.
