“I inspire greatness for a better world by constantly seeking new ways to enrich our student body with our auxiliary programs, by coordinating and ensuring that every event on campus puts our best foot forward and by connecting with students and inspiring them to always strive to give their best effort.”

Dan Wagner oversees the summer programs, after-school programs and club sports; coordinates all events on campus; helps manage all experiential education trips; and coaches the ice hockey team. He believes that putting students first in all his efforts leads to the most successful programs. His most enjoyable times are when alumni come back to work for Camp Torreys or just to say hi and talk about where life has taken them since leaving La Jolla Country Day School.

Mr. Wagner grew up in upstate New York, attending Albany Academy and then the University of Rochester. He graduated with a Bachelor of Science in political science and philosophy. Playing hockey throughout his time at both institutions, Mr. Wagner brought his passion for the sport to the LJCDS campus, founding the ice hockey program in 2013.

Mr. Wagner and his wife, Michele, have two daughters, Emerson ’24 and Marley ’26. When he is not coaching, he can often be found on the ice with his daughters, who have recently been bitten by the ice skating bug. His other interests are paddle boarding, kayaking, concerts with his wife or relaxing and grilling in his backyard.
