Mai-Loni Henson Hits Career Milestone

By Jeff Hutzler
La Jolla Country Day basketball standout, Mai-Loni Henson '16, became the 4th player in school history to score 1500 career points during last night's win at Horizon.

Mai-Loni scored 17 points as her team cruised by Horizon Christian Academy 70-25.  Her 1506 points ranks her behind (1) Candice Wiggins '04, (2) Kelsey Plum '13 and (3) Marisa Rivera '04.  Candice and Marisa both enjoyed successful college careers, Candice stars for the WNBA's New York Liberty and both former Lady Torreys are members of the LJCD Athletic Hall of Fame.  Kelsey currently leads the nation is scoring and free throws made for the University of Washington.  Mai-Loni, who is as good off the court as she is on, will join Kelsey at Washington next year.  She is the complete package; she recorded a 3.87 GPA on her last report card and is a star anchor in LJCD TV's weekly news program.  As team captain, Mai-Loni has led the Lady Torreys to a 17-4 win, loss record, and rankings of #2 in San Diego, # 5 in California and #14 in MaxPrep's national computer rankings.
