Big Win for Torrey Baseball
Congratulations to the Torrey baseball team who qualified for the CIF Open Division and earned the 8 seed, having to face 1 seed La Costa Canyon. Our team took the May 25th game to be just another day in the ballpark as they knocked off the Mavericks 4-3.
Big plays happened in the latter part of the game with Carson Greene '18 hitting the sacrifice fly in the 5th inning to let David Wylie '17 score and bring the lead to Country Day. With Country Day in the lead by the 5th inning, the Torreys held on to their lead, even with LCC scoring at the bottom of the 5th, and Country Day held on for one of the biggest wins in the program’s history.
The team proceeded to CIF SDS Open Division Championships and lost their battle to Eastlake High and Grossmont High.
