Dear Loyal Torrey Football Fans,
Your Torreys have returned safely from an amazing trip to Hawaii and have gotten right back to work in their first week of school! Despite a 27-19 loss to ‘Iolani, this trip will be one that we all remember fondly for many years to come. ‘Iolani, ranked 9th in all of Hawaii, was a tough opponent and I couldn’t be more proud of the way the boys battled (in tropical heat) until the final drive of the game. If we play every game the way we did on Saturday, we will do something special this season.
Some highlights of our Hawaii trip include a couple of family beach barbecues, a hike at Diamond Head, Germaine’s Luau, enjoying the beaches of Waikiki, and our post-game potluck with the ‘Iolani football families; I’ve included some photos from the trip. So many people were involved in making this trip a success; over 170 LJCDS people enjoyed the trip (including football players/coaches, cheerleaders/coaches, trainers, and families). In addition to the support from our administration, our team parents brought their “A” game to provide the players with most exciting experience possible. I am also thankful for ‘Iolani alum and my college roommate, Travis Agustin, and his parents Margaret and Rocknie for everything they did in working with our families to set this trip up. The Agustin’s were very impressed with the Torrey Pride they witnessed!

The JV Torreys took a loss in their first game of the season against a very tough Punahou JV. Undoubtedly, the young Torreys learned a lot in this game and will come back stronger this week.
We travel to Orange Glen to take on the Patriots in our first Coastal League game of the year; Orange Glen has joined the Coastal League this year. The JV plays at 4:00 and the Varsity plays at 7:00.
Go Torreys!
