Thank you for your interest in La Jolla Country Day School. Applications for the 2019–2020 school year will be available on October 1, 2018. Please contact the Office of Admission at admission@ljcds.org with any questions. 

Applying to the Early Childhood Center

Choosing La Jolla Country Day School's (LJCDS) Early Childhood Center for your child is a positive step in his or her life. We welcome children who exhibit a willingness to learn and families who embrace our desire to nurture scholars, artists and athletes of character.

Early Childhood Center Application Process

As of April 9, 2018, La Jolla Country Day School will consider applications on a space-available basis.

Our Early Childhood Center includes our Tiny Torreys program (age 3 students) and junior kindergarten program (age 4 students). The application deadline is February 1, 2019. 

  • Please complete the online application.  
  • Once you have submitted the application, you will be directed to your checklist.  Your checklist will show you next steps, which will include forms that need to be submitted and appointments that need to be scheduled.  
  • If your checklist does not show up immediately after submitting the online application, please allow up to 24 hours for it to display on your child’s application.   

Considerations for Admission

  • Skills or qualifications to successfully participate in and meet the standards of the school's ambitious program
  • Maturity
  • Affiliation with the school—special consideration for available space is given to qualified children of faculty/staff/administration, siblings of current students, and children of alumni who fit within the range of students best served by LJCDS
  • Diversity and gender balance
  • Appropriateness of match between family and the school including a parental commitment to establish a supportive partnership with the LJCDS community
  • Potential for success as an Early Childhood/Lower School student
  • Social and emotional readiness to handle transitions, social interactions with familiar adults, and the routine and schedule of the day.
