We proudly congratulate the 120 graduates of the class of 2025.
Bravo to the 120 graduates of the class of 2025 who were honored during the 62nd La Jolla Country Day School commencement ceremony on Friday, May 30, at the University of San Diego. They received over 670 college acceptances, with 94% of students admitted to one of their top three colleges. Graduates will attend 72 colleges and universities, with two of them traveling internationally. LJCDS is also proud to recognize 26 lifers from the class of 2025. Our lifers have called LJCDS home for 13 years or more.
For his first commencement welcome as LJCDS Head of School, Jeff Terwin, Ph.D., reminded students that their journey won’t be linear and that detours are not only expected but often meaningful. He emphasized the importance of critical thinking, personal grit, and optimism over easy answers or relying solely on technology. As students step into a new chapter, Dr. Terwin encouraged them to take ownership of their path, find where passion meets purpose, and create the future they want to see.
The following three awards were presented during the commencement ceremony.
Trustees’ Award
Ayla Desai ’25
Presented by Board of Trustees President Jennifer O’Brien, this award recognizes a student who has achieved the highest cumulative grade point average over the last four years at LJCDS.
