Graduation provides an occasion to celebrate students reaching another milestone in their journey. The journey has many goals and objectives, but ultimately, the students’ course is to develop their own identity.
On behalf of the LJCDS faculty, staff, board of trustees, students and alumni, I extend a sincere congratulations to the class of 2018. Commencement is one of the most joyous events on campus. As students walked across the Amphitheater stage, we celebrated not only what they have accomplished but also who they have become. We take pride in knowing that they have strengthened their commitment to a lifetime of intellectual exploration, personal growth and social responsibility.
Significant accomplishments are rarely completed alone. This milestone also marks the fulfillment of a promise from our faculty and staff to inspire greatness in our students. Our faculty is committed to knowing our students and bringing the very best out of each student. It has been a joy educating our young scholars.
Our graduates will encounter a world filled with uncertainty and unimaginable challenges. Nevertheless, La Jolla Country Day School has prepared them to lead our world forward with dignity. Their education positions them to identify and address the most complex problems facing humanity. However, it is with good character and integrity that will allow them to solve these issues and shape a more just world. We know that the students will apply their skills and credentials with compassion, honesty and integrity; in service to our communities; and in support of others.
We have benefited from their time here and have grown as a premier learning institution because learning is a community activity. Their powerful insights and ideas influenced us as educators and reshaped the future of our school. Thank you, class of 2018, for helping make LJCDS a better place for people to grow, learn and thrive. As they continue to develop their identity, we are honored to have been a part of it and look forward to their continued accomplishments.
