The Summer in Review

By Tiana Kelly, Associate Director of College Counseling
Whether you spent the summer at home with family, working at a summer job, or traveling to new places, we hope that you were able to embrace the slower pace of the past couple months and use it as an opportunity to recharge and reflect on what matters to you and why. The College Counseling team took the summer busily preparing for the upcoming year, fall application season with the seniors and year-round programming, not only for the Class of 2026, but all students in the Upper School.

It began with our College Application Workshop for the Class of 2026 on June 5th, where we prepared the rising seniors for the upcoming fall application season. We discussed college list building, focused essay writing, creating their various application accounts and learning how to organize their activities list and emphasize their interests. We had check-in meetings throughout the summer, and our College Essay Advisors’ schedules were full of seniors getting an early start on their essay writing.

In the beginning of August, we held individual Common Application and University of California application workshops. In each session we reviewed the application formats, heard from Admission Representatives from each application-type of institution, and provided work time so students could jump start their applications (if they hadn’t already).

We closed out the summer through well wishes to the Seniors as they embarked on the annual retreat at Whispering Winds for a cherished tradition.
