Gender Revolution Film Screening and Panel Discussion
The School Counselors want to make sure that we are providing support and education that meets the wellness needs of a diverse population. Part of wellness is cultivating a community where individuals feel emotionally and physically safe to be their authentic selves. One of the topics that has come up in our work with students and parents is gender identity. One way that we hope to address this need is to host a screening of the film Gender Revolution, a National Geographic documentary that came out in 2017 and is hosted by Katie Couric. This screening will be followed by a panel discussion led by Kathie Moehlig, of Trans Family Support Services. This event is scheduled to take place the evening of October 17th and is open to anyone who is interested in learning more about gender identity, whether it’s understanding terminology, the importance of using preferred pronouns, or how to be an ally.
