Alumni Awards
Alumni were recognized during the inaugural awards ceremony.
On August 25, 2023, LJCDS hosted the first Alumni Awards Ceremony and Reception to recognize members of the Torrey community who have distinguished themselves through professional achievement, service to LJCDS and contributions to society at large. The community chose the nominees, and the LJCDS Alumni Council selected the winners.
The awards ceremony kicked off Alumni Weekend with over 100 guests celebrating the four recipients.
- Lucy Smith Conroy ’90 received the Distinguished Alum Award, presented by alumna and current LJCDS parent and board member Amy Glass Mischler ’91.
- John Hansbrough ’08 received the Distinguished Young Alum Award, presented by LJCDS Director of Physical Education Kevin Reaume.
- Jared Polis ’93 received the Outstanding Alum Award, presented by longtime former LJCDS faculty member Jerry Fleischhacker.
- Susie (Olson) Nordenger received the Honorary Alum Award, presented by LJCDS Director of Financial Assistance and Enrollment Management Brian Murphy (and Ms. Nordenger’s former student).
The recipients of the 2023 Alumni Awards have thoroughly enriched the school community and the world beyond Genesee Avenue. These individuals embody what it means to be a Torrey—all striving to make the world better for future generations.
