Torrey Football Report - Week 5 vs Montgomery

Torreys win their fourth straight game
In our first ever “Celebration of the Arts” night, your Torreys won their fourth straight game on Friday night to improve their record to 4-1 on the season. The Sea of Blue posted their first shutout of the year thanks to four takeaways, while the Big Blue offense again scored over 40 points with their season high of 51 points (we have scored over 40 points in all five games this year). Defensively, Brennan Goring ’17 and Brandon Sanchez ’18 each recovered fumbles while Ben Petty-Hull ’17 and Trevor Rudolph ’17 each intercepted the Aztecs. On the offense, Braxton Burmeister ’17 threw for over 300 yards (373) for the second time this season, completing passes to 7 different Torrey receivers. Rudolph and David Wylie ’17 each hauled in long passes for touchdowns of 48 yards and 74 yards respectively. Burmeister also finished the game with 4 TD runs, and Ryan LaRiccia ‘17 added a rushing TD of his own. The scoring was completed in the 4th quarter with Julian Davis’s ‘17 33 yard Field Goal, his first of his career. See the below links for more coverage, highlights, and stats from the game:

We added flair on Friday night with fantastic performances by our marching band, drum line, Blue Notes, Madrigals, Dancers, Cheerleaders and more, making this Celebration of the Arts a tradition we definitely plan to continue for years to come – it was a blast having our Scholar, Artist, Athlete or Character motto on full display!

We have a bye this Friday night, as our upper schoolers are off around (and out of) the country on their experiential education trips this week. Our next game is Friday, 10/9 at San Ysidro High School. We then open up Coastal League play with our HOMECOMING game against Francis Parker on Friday, October 16th
