KPBS shines a light on the most beloved community service project on campus.
For over 25 years, the LJCDS community has come together to fulfill the wishes of children, teens and young adults in the San Diego area. This year, LJCDS partnered with San Diego Social Services and A Bridge for Kids, which provided wish lists for infants to 18-year-olds, including young mothers. Most are teenagers and young adults, as they are the largest group in the foster care system and overwhelmingly the most underserved.
More than 400 colorfully-wrapped gifts will be delivered over the holiday season. Lower and Middle School students offered handmade cards, and Upper School students on the Community Service Board and parents/guardians volunteered their time organizing and wrapping the presents.
